  • What if my baby comes early?
No worries! Get in touch with me when baby has arrived and we'll confirm your booking on a date that works best for you and your family. I only take a limited number of newborn sessions per month for this exact reason. As it turns out, I haven't had a baby come on their expected due date yet. They run this show.
  • How to choose the best location for sessions?
Choosing the perfect location for your photo session in Metro Vancouver can be as fun as the shoot itself! We’re lucky to have a diverse range of stunning backdrops at our fingertips—from lush parks, to serene beaches, to your own home. Think about the vibe you’re going for: do you dream of romantic shots with mountain views, playful family moments on a sandy beach, or cool, candid photos in your home? I'm here to help with suggestions based on lighting, accessibility, and your personal style. Whether you’re drawn to the natural beauty of Stanley Park, the breathtaking scenes at Lighthouse Park, or your living room couch, we’ll find the perfect spot that feels just right for you.
  • What if I'm/my husband is/we're both too camera-shy?
Feeling a bit camera-shy? You're not alone! Many expectant parents feel a bit nervous about being in front of the camera, but that's where I come in. My job is to make you feel comfortable and relaxed, almost as if the camera isn’t even there. We’ll take it slow, chat, laugh, and let the session unfold naturally. I'll give you prompts like "Tell each other your favourite thing about each other" and your shoulders relax and you smile a bit because you had no idea THAT was their favourite thing about you. And that photo will be one of your favourites. By focusing on your connection, we'll capture beautiful, authentic moments that you'll cherish forever.
  • How can I feel more beautiful at this time?
Let's focus on what makes you feel good. During our photo session, I’ll help you see and celebrate your beauty through poses that flatter and reflect your strength and grace as an expectant mother. You're going to have your hair and makeup done in a way that makes you feel beautiful, too. This is included because naturally, when you've sat down and been pampered for an hour, you feel more at ease; more comfortable. Resulting in images where you're confident and beautiful.
  • Why bother with maternity photography?
Real talk. Pregnancy wasn't really my thing. I didn't feel glowing and beautiful. And how about those symptoms?! As much as you believe these moments during your pregnancy are unforgettable, life is busy and the moments are fleeting. Unless you take the time to book a photo session, they will be distant memories soon. You are literally making a human from scratch. How neat is that?! It's one of life's many miracles and you're doing it. Every time you look at your baby, you will see their sweet fingers and toes and know that you made them. Getting maternity photos taken is a perfect way to capture a snapshot of what being pregnant is like. Candid moments of you talking to your belly, snuggling with your partner, or having your older child listening for baby happen in an instant. Take this moment to celebrate that you're doing something that is legitimately miraculous. Then, when you're done thinking of that, take a moment to inhale. Then exhale. YOU are creating life. Let's document it during a photoshoot together. Need even more reasons to get maternity photos? I wrote an entire blog post all about that, and you can click here to check those reasons out.
  • When do I book my maternity session?
As soon as you know your due date, go ahead and book a session between 31-34 weeks pregnant. Booking too early can mean you’re barely showing, and booking later in the pregnancy can sometimes mean we miss it because baby decides to come early. Around 31-34 weeks makes for some stunning photos, and you can book your newborn session at the same time. For newborn sessions, create a tentative booking for 5-10 days after your due date.
  • Can I include other people and pets in my maternity session?
Often people think maternity photos have to be just the expecting mom in the photos. This just isn't the case! Some of the photos you'll love the most are of the connection you share with your family as your family continues to grow. Make sure you include your other children, your pet, and your partner in your next maternity session—it's a way for you to document your journey and to remember these fleeting moments. All while remembering how your newest addition kicked you—relentlessly.
  • What do I wear?
I recommend wearing something comfortable and simple. Avoid bold patterns and prominent logos, graphic tees, and writing on your outfits. Neutral, light tones (creams, whites, greys, and pastels) always look amazing. I also recommend adding layers and textures like a loose cardigan, a cable knit sweater, or a flowy dress. That being said, personal style is just that: personal! Lots of things can be gorgeous. Use your best judgment. And if you’d like a second opinion? Feel free to snap a pic of your outfits and send them over to me. I’m happy to help consult.
  • What is the cost of a newborn photo session?
Starting at $1250 CAD, the newborn collections include specialty artwork that you will treasure forever. There are three collections to choose from and you'll have the option to purchase specialty keepsakes à la carte. You're going to love them. Here's a link to get the Inquiry Guide with all pricing info for a session with me.
  • Why print my newborn photos or get an album?
Flipping through albums in your parents’ house and seeing yourself smiling, laughing, or being held isn’t just nostalgic and special; it’s good for your self-esteem. According to psychologists, photography helps kids develop stronger confidence. It’s valuable for children to actually see themselves as part of a family unit. That’s why each of my photo packages includes something physical. A beautiful photo of your family belongs in your hands, not just on a screen.
  • Can my pet be in the photos with us?
When clients ask if their pets (usually a family dog) can be included in their family photo session, the answer is always yes! Your furry friend is always welcome! Here are a few easy tips to help you set your pup up for success when bringing your dog to your newborn photo session.
  • What if my baby comes early or late?
No worries! Get in touch with me when baby has arrived and we'll confirm your booking on a date that works best for you and your family. I only take a limited number of newborn sessions per month for this exact reason. As it turns out, I haven't had a baby come on their expected due date yet. They run this show.
  • When do I need to book my newborn session?
As soon as you know your due date, go ahead and book your session for 5-10 days after you’re due. We can move your session around based on when baby actually comes.
  • Why do newborn photo sessions cost the same as family photos?
Newborn sessions are priced the same as family photo sessions because they involve just as much care, preparation, and time. Newborn photography also involves creating a warm, safe environment where your little one feels comfortable (older siblings too!). For family sessions, a lot of behind-the-scenes work goes into making sure every detail is perfect. It's also important to create the same warm and safe environment for family sessions so that everyone is comfortable and able to be their authentic selves.
  • Why do Vancouver families come to you for newborn photography?
It's truly an honour to be a newborn photographer for families in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. I capture your first family photographs in an authentic and meaningful way, which is why families come to me. There's a lot to consider with hiring the right photographer for you and your family. With the collections you can choose from, you will leave your experience with heirloom quality artwork that you will keep for life—your grandchildren will hand them down to their grandchildren. Not sure about how to choose the right newborn photographer? Here's a checklist with all the essential questions to ask.
  • Why in-home photo sessions?
In-home newborn photos are quickly becoming the most popular style of baby photography. I offer your newborn sessions in your baby's very first home—a wonderful keepsake for your little one to look back on. Besides being nostalgic and special, planning to have your newborn session in your home brings the comforts of...well, home!
  • What is the best time for newborn photos?
This question is common for studio photographers—not as much for lifestyle photographers. The reason studio photographers recommend your baby be so young (usually 5-10 days old) is because when babies are born, their bones aren't fused together quite yet and it makes it easier for the photographer to mold and shape your babe into unnatural positions because of their flexibility. This is something I will never, ever do during your newborn session. I offer in-home lifestyle photography, which means there are no props. I use a method called 'baby-led-posing'. This method is exactly how it sounds. We do what baby wants to do. Cool, right?! Your newborn is like my little assistant telling us what we're going to do, every step of the way. Generally speaking (and of course, depending on mom and baby's health), your newborn is between 2-4 weeks old during their session.
  • Isn't maternity the same as newborn?
Maternity and newborn photos might sound similar, but they’re all about capturing different (and exciting!) moments. Maternity photos are all about the glow and excitement of expecting your little one during your pregnancy. It’s a great way to remember your amazing journey to motherhood, usually best captured around the 30th to 34th week of your pregnancy, when your bump is beautifully visible. Newborn photos focus on the first few weeks of your baby’s life, showcasing all the tiny details from their little toes to the sweet family cuddles. So, while maternity photos celebrate your pregnancy journey, newborn shots capture those first precious moments of your baby’s life.
  • How do I get my family heirloom?
You choose your favourite images and pick the colours and style of your album. Then your keepsakes arrive on your doorstep 2-4 weeks after your portrait gallery was delivered. You'll flip through your album, you'll say "Wow! my baby has already changed so much since we took these," and then you might cry a little.
  • What is your price range for family portraits?
Ready to make some memories? Your family portrait session starts at $1250 CAD. That covers everything from our initial chat where we get all your hopes and ideas, to a photoshoot that’s all about fun and comfort, right down to professional touch-ups to make your photos pop. I'm here to capture your family with one-of-a-kind images you’ll treasure forever.
  • How big of a family can you photograph?
Big family? Bring it on! Whether it’s just the two of you or you’re bringing everyone from Grandma to the newest baby, I’ve got you covered. I love photographing large groups and know just how to arrange everyone to make sure you all look great in the frame. So, gather up the family—the more, the merrier! Let’s create something fun and fabulous that includes everyone.
  • Why print my family portraits?
Printing your family portraits is like grabbing hold of those special moments and making them last. Digital photos are great, but they often end up lost in the Cloud or forgotten on a hard drive. Having your portraits in an album? They’re real, they’re touchable, and they’re always there to remind you of good times and close ties. They add a splash of heart and soul to your home and turn into cherished keepsakes that can be loved and passed down through the generations. According to psychologists, photography helps kids develop stronger confidence. It’s valuable for children to actually see themselves as part of a family unit. That’s why each of my photo packages includes something physical. A beautiful photo of your family belongs in your hands, not just on a screen.
  • What if I live in an area you can't photograph my family in?
Live a bit far from my usual spots in the Lower Mainland or Fraser Valley? No worries at all! Just let me know where you are, and we can chat about the options. I’m all for exploring new places and can travel to you if needed. And if that’s not possible, I’d be happy to help you find a fantastic local photographer who can capture your family’s magic right where you are. It’s all about making sure you get those amazing family photos, no matter where you’re located!
  • Why hire a family photographer?
Think about hiring a family photographer as capturing your 'right now' for the 'remember when...?'. It's not just about snapping pretty pictures—it’s about freezing those fleeting moments of love and laughter that pass all too quickly. A pro photographer can spot and capture the spontaneous smiles and intimate glances that might otherwise go unnoticed. I'm also great at making everyone look their best and feeling comfortable while they're at it. Plus, it’s a blast for the whole family, a chance to just play and be yourselves while someone else worries about the details!
  • How long is a brand photoshoot?
The length of a branding photoshoot can vary significantly based on your specific needs and goals. Some shoots can be completed in a concise two-hour session, which is perfect for capturing a specific aspect of your brand or a particular product. On the other hand, if we're looking to tell a deeper story—perhaps capturing various facets of your operations or a series of different projects—a branding shoot can extend over several days. This allows us to cover more ground and to showcase the diversity and richness of your brand in full. For more details on the answer to this question, you can check out my blog post here.
  • Can I get a professional makeup application?
Yes! You can absolutely add-on a professional makeup application with any branding or headshot session. This happens immediately before your photo shoot. Do you have a team that needs makeup, too? Let's talk about this. Besides being a professional makeup artist myself, I work with other amazing professional artists with decades of experience.
  • What's the difference between headshots and personal branding photos?
This one I've got so much to talk about, I created a blog post! You can read that in full here.
  • How much does your headshot photography service cost?
Your $350 CAD session fee covers my time and talent. The price per image is $100 CAD—you only buy what you love (and I'm sure you'll love a whole bunch of them!). Your session fee does not include any digital images or products. Looking for a branding session? Reach out for a custom quote.
  • Do I need to bring my own props?
The short answer is yes. The long answer is that selecting the right props is essential to creating images that resonate with your brand identity. Start by gathering any branding materials such as business cards, brochures, and promotional items that feature your logo and brand messaging. Include elements from your workspace that you interact with daily—think laptops, phones, and stylish office supplies that reflect your professionalism. Fashion accessories are more than just embellishments; they communicate your style. Consider layers like cardigans or blazers, and don't shy away from statement pieces like a bold hair accessory or a chic hat. They add a dynamic touch to your portraits. Incorporating your brand colours is key, so select wardrobe pieces and props in hues that align with your brand palette, whether it's the vibrant primary colours or the subtle accent tones. Finally, personalizing your shoot with items that tell your story—like framed family photos—adds a layer of intimacy and authenticity. These carefully chosen props will not only enhance your photos aesthetically, but also they will ensure that your brand's unique narrative is front and centre. Do you still feel like you could use more guidance on props to bring? Great news—I've created a new freebie for you! Click here to download this guide for free.
  • Why print my branding photos into an album?
Your branding photoshoot is just the beginning; turning these images into an album can elevate your brand experience to new heights. An album serves not just as a portfolio to showcase your professional journey; it also communicates your brand identity. It's a powerful tool for engaging with clients and collaborators, offering them a hands-on glimpse into what sets your brand apart from the competition. By investing in a printed album, you’re not only preserving your achievements and milestones in a timeless format, but also you’re making a statement about the quality and permanence of your brand.
  • I'm a parent—are there options for my daycare photography?
Yes! Parents have options to get their favourite portraits: Sibling photos (centre dependent) Backdrop choices (chosen by the centre) Colour photos Black-and-white photos
  • How do you order digital files or prints?
Families are linked to password-protected online ordering galleries—in fact, everything is online! Each child will be provided 3-5 images, presented in both colour and black-and-white. The family may choose the photos they want printed, as opposed to having a pose chosen for them. Digital images are available for purchase for future printing and archiving. All physical products will be available for pickup at the daycare approximately four weeks after the order deadline. Digital files are delivered to the email address used to log in immediately after purchase.
  • How many children can you accommodate?
I photograph daycare centres that have enrolment of approximately 75-200 students. Some centres have less and others more. If this is something you're interested in, reach out and we can see how I can help with your photography needs. This service is meant for little ones and sibling groupings. This service is not meant for family portraits.
  • Why do parents love these beautiful, modern school pictures?
Parents have told me three main reasons they love their experience with me: The portraits are beautiful and they can't believe I got such genuine expressions from their kids. The turnaround time was super quick! They love that I'm great with kids and that their children had a good experience having their photos taken.
  • Why do schools love working with me?
Beyond my excellent customer service and attention to details, I make photo day easy and seamless. Here's what centre directors and managers have had to say: "We have had many parents telling us how much they loved the photos!" "Thank you so much for such an amazing experience. Some of the classes are still talking about their photo day."
  • What if my child doesn't go to a school or daycare that you photograph at?
Several times per year I host a pop-up portrait marathon in my home studio and at locations around the Lower Mainland. If you would like more information on the next pop-up, you can sign up for my mailing list and you'll be on the VIP list to get early access to booking! Sign up here. If your kids are in daycare or preschool but they don't do photos or the photos that they offer aren't what you think they could be, forward this page to your school's director.
  • What is your pricing like for school photos?
My pricing is in line with the large photography studios. I offer a variety of packages and à la carte items so there's something for everyone. There's no minimum purchase. There is no cost to the centre.
