How to prepare for your session

A gentle, realistic breakdown of what helps sessions feel relaxed, connected, and true to your family.

Children don’t need to “perform” for the camera. They need space to be themselves. Here’s how to help them warm up naturally:

  • Keep expectations light and simple
  • Bring a snack (or three)
  • Let them choose a comfort item
  • Skip the pep talk — just tell them you’re going to hang out with Meliza

Here's a quick read on how to love your family photos. It's a guide for feeling relaxed in front of the camera (and how to love your family photos!)

Preparing kids for family photos

No deep cleaning required, truly. Leave your dishes in the sink, we won't photograph 'em anyway. I photograph the feeling of your home, not the dust on your baseboards.

I'll probably move a few things around to make sure we get the best light but clearing a couple of surfaces and opening the curtains is more than enough.

Prepare your home (for in-home sessions)

Once you’re officially booked, you’ll receive a full planning questionnaire and wardrobe guidance so that everything feels aligned with your style, comfort, and the story you want to tell.
